VGJ.Storm Wins GESC Thailand!

Wins over The Final Tribe, Fnatic & Keen Gaming in the GESC Thailand playoffs earned VGJ.Storm our first LAN victory as a team. After taking some time to adjust to the new patch and battling through the group stages, VGJ.Storm only dropped a single game in the playoff stage. Yawar YS Hassan & Roman Resolut1on Fomynok each showed versatility as they were able to seamlessly switch positions from game to game to effectively carry from mid and safelane. JingJun Sneyking Wu continually pressured the offlane and created space for his team to grow into the game. Arif MSS- Anwar won the MVP vote from many behind his stellar Tusk play in the grand finals. Last and certainly not least, Avery SVG Silverman kept the team ticking with his support play and excellent drafting.

Team Director Jack KBBQ Chen had this to say on the team's first LAN victory:

"Really proud of our being able to step up when we most needed it, and our resilience in recovering from some rough days of practice and group stage matches. We still have a ton to learn and hone but the focus and discipline was awesome from this group as it consistently has been, so we have lots to look forward to."

Resolut1on had this to say about his first LAN with the team:

"It's pretty surprising for me that we did so well at our first tournament as a team, since we only had a month of practicing together. Obviously I'm very happy about the win but I'm even happier about the road to TI. We had a lot of fun and it was very enjoyable to stay in that atmosphere, I think it's important right now for a Dota team to get along with each other well since you are hanging out together for like 80% of the time. So first one in the bag and hopefully more to come!"

VGJ.Storm has no time to celebrate as we immediately head off to MDL Changsha to try to win our first Major. A big thank you to the fans at the arena and our fans watching online!

VGJ.Storm Roster Change

VGJ.Storm is making a roster change before our trips to Thailand and China. The bad timing of an uncertain and packed tournament schedule alongside Timado’s citizenship and visa process has played a large part in our difficult decision to replace him. Enzo Timado Gianoli played an instrumental role in qualifying for our next two tournaments for which he will be compensated appropriately. We’d like to thank him for his time and his hard work. We wish him the best and we will continue to support his growth as a player.

In his place, we’d like to welcome Roman Resolut1on Fominok to the team. Roman is a seasoned and accomplished professional and we look forward to going to battle with him.

Here’s a word from our Team Director, Jack KBBQ Chen:

This is obviously a really tough situation for a promising young player. Though we had discussed this possibility with Timado, he showed maturity beyond his years in continuing to compete to his fullest ability throughout recent qualifiers, even though he couldn’t be with the team at bootcamp. Thankfully, the difficulties of his situation will also be resolved in the next few months.
We’re of course excited that Roman will be joining the team. He’s a driven, relentless competitor who has proven himself at a highest levels time and again in different situations, and the upside is high.

Thank you for your support, and you can catch VGJ.Storm playing in ESL Birmingham qualifiers next week.

VGJ.Storm is Back

After a short break to reset, VGJ.Storm is back and ready to compete with a new roster. We're excited to welcome Enzo Timado Gianoli, Arif MSS Anwar & Avery SVG Silverman, as well as familiar faces Yawar YawaR Hassan & JingJun Sneyking Wu, to Brooklyn.

Team director Jack KBBQ Chen had this to say on the roster update:

"I'm excited to announce we're right back to competing, and I'd like to introduce our newest Dota 2 team, which includes some familiar faces!
Yawar has been a promising core player for a long time, hungrily grinding in search of the right circumstances to break out. He diligently stood in for us in November after Ritsu’s departure and carried himself (and the team) quite capably.
Timado I first encountered years ago when he was just a polite, extremely young IXDL player looking for advice and competition. He has unselfishness and maturity well beyond his years and we’re hyped to help him become the star he seems certain to become.
Sneyking has always been a ferociously driven competitor, and I’m happy to work with him once again as he continues to hone himself as a strong voice and leader.
MSS has been undisputedly a top tier player for some time, a monster who excels at multiple positions with a large hero pool. Can’t ask for much more experience, knowledge, and versatility in a playmaker than this.
And SVG brings unique wisdom and perspective as one of the few to have both coached and competed at the highest level.
Glad to be going to battle with these guys."

Full roster:

  1. YawaR

  2. Timado

  3. Sneyking

  4. MSS

  5. SVG

Come cheer on the new VGJ.Storm competing in DreamLeague NA Qualifiers today at 4pm ET!

VGJ.Storm Status Update

VGJ.Storm and the players are hitting the reset button on our current roster. We would like to thank Brian BSJ Canavan and Jaron monkeys-forever Clinton for their hard work and perseverance in a trying month. We would also like to thank Francis FLee Lee & Stanley Stan King Yang for being with us from the beginning. We've enjoyed seeing them grow as players and people.

Jack KBBQ Chen had this to say on the reset and the future for VGJ.Storm:

"First and foremost, I wanna thank the guys for battling all out through the month of January. Monkeys and BSJ stepped into a really chaotic situation, and brought great energy, drive, and communication to our team. Francis and Stan (and Eric as well) saw their roles change and needed to step up and take charge, and they did. Ultimately we were one game away from qualifying for Bucharest, and we put together some good series against elite teams we'd been struggling against. At the end of the day players had to go through a ton of overlapping qualifiers, and that's tremendously stressful and draining. Add that to uncertainty about our mid position, and the players eventually held a meeting where we all discussed going in a different direction.
I'm grateful to Stan and Francis for their time here. We watched them change, adapt, and grow as people and get valuable international experience (Stan's first victories on LAN!), and as a new organization we had plenty to learn from them as well. It's just the nature of competition, sometimes you put in the time and the work, and still don't reach everything you strived for. We know they'll continue to grind and find success going forward. Francis is a talented free spirit, and Stan is a natural organizer and teacher, and we'll miss both.
I'd also like to thank Brian and Jaron. They immediately improved our team's energy and communication, fitting in from day one, and are a huge reason why we went into early January qualifiers in great form. Though I found Jaron's dietary restrictions even less palatable than BSJ's stream tilts, I'll miss them both as well.
What myself and VGJ don't intend to miss for long is competing in professional Dota. It won't be long before we find people who share our commitment and values, and go to war again."

Thanks for supporting us, and keep an eye out for news regarding our Storm roster!
